Energy Container powers off-grid biodynamic farm

Intech inaugurates its innovative off-grid renewable energy project in Alsace

Kehl-Auenheim, May 27, 2019 – On Friday May 24 2019, the biodynamic farm "Un Jardin et des Graines" hosted the inauguration of the Intech Energy Container as part of the dena renewable energy solutions program (dena RES program). On this occasion, potential customers and interested parties were shown the Energy Container and could acquire technical information from the company's engineers.

According to REN21, a global non-profit association promoting renewable energy, nearly 14% of the world's population has no access to the electrical grid – mostly in rural areas. Fossil fuel-based energy, both expensive and dangerous to one’s health and the environment, is commonly used in these regions.
As Christoph Vollmer, Managing Director of Intech, points out, Intech Clean Energy developed the Energy Container series to “reduce diesel and gas consumption for power production in remote areas.”

The Energy Container provides electricity from solar energy. It consists of a solar photovoltaic plant, solar and island inverters, a last-generation lithium ion battery and a back-up generator. All system components are made in Germany. The assembly of the containers takes place at the Intech workshop in Kehl.
As it is modular, the amount of electricity produced can be adapted to the customer’s final needs. The system varies in size between 10 to 300 kWp, and can provide enough energy to supply the electricity needs of a farmer or settlement. This technology is thus appropriate for use in remote areas but also to power agricultural or industrial activities with clean energy.

The lighthouse project in Alsace fully covers the energy demand of the biodynamic farm. It supplies energy for the irrigation, heating, communication as well as control and surveillance of the farm. The energy system even allows the charging of an electric vehicle. Its performance is continuously monitored and available to Intech and the client remotely.

The inauguration took place as part of the dena RES programme, through which the German Energy Agency (dena) supports German companies wishing to establish renewable energy technologies in foreign markets.
By participating in the dena RES program, Intech increases its visibility in the French-speaking world. According to Intech, the demand for its Energy Containers is increasing across the globe. Stable energy supply is key for rural development.

This project is part of the worldwide dena Renewable Energy Solutions Programme coordinated by the Deutsche Energie-Agentur (dena) - the German Energy Agency - and supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWi) within the German Energy Solutions Initiative.
